OUR MISSION

No One Should Go Without Treatment Because They Can’t Afford It

Our mission at the Courage Under Cancer Foundation is to provide financial assistance to those battling cancer, people that are in a situation where they have to choose between treatment or paying a bill. The Foundation would like to help take some of the burden off of that decision and allow the recipient to focus on treatment. The Courage Under Cancer Foundation pledges that donations go to helping cancer patients with treatment or living expenses, and never to research.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

Dee Kapaska Baginski
(1957-2022)

In February of 2018, Courage Under Cancer Foundation Founder, Dee Kapaska Baginski’s life forever changed when the doctors told her that she had a very aggressive stage IV cancer. Fighting cancer was the most difficult challenge of Dee’s life. During this time, her faith led her to write a book titled ‘Courage Under Cancer’. Writing the book not only helped her endure the treatments and their side effects, but also allowed her to share her journey and encourage others going through similar experiences.

Even with great insurance, the bills began to pile up. While not being able to work, the cost of treatments, copays, and associated expenses really add stress to someone already shouldering the enormous weight of fighting cancer. With her faith and a few close friends to support her vision, Dee founded the Courage Under Cancer Foundation (501c3) on April 30, 2019.

Dee’s brave battle with cancer ended on December 3rd, 2022, but her legacy lives on through our amazing Board members, as well as all the generous support we receive from sponsors, donors and volunteers. It is your support that helps us continue to raise money to help cancer patients and to fulfill Dee’s vision.

Not Research

Our goal is to assist individuals financially, so that they do not have to choose between paying a bill and having cancer treatments. We adopted the tagline “No one should go without treatment because they can’t afford it” because we believe in it. Our mission and structure are what set us apart from other local and national cancer foundations.

Research into this disease is, of course, important. But to us, supporting those going through cancer now, helping them get the treatment they need, is of paramount importance.

Our events are crucial to our fundraising efforts. Thanks to everyone who helped us raise over $30,000 at the 2023 Courage Under Cancer Foundation Fashion Show!
